How fitness is becoming a place of joy for newcomers
My name is Patience George. I arrived in Canada on February 6, 2025, full of hope but quickly faced job rejections, loneliness, and the harsh winter. With no friends or support, my mental health declined. I longed for community, but gyms that offered community were expensive and big box gyms were isolating. Community events were also expensive for someone starting over. So, I created the space I needed. On April 13, 2025, six immigrants met at Heritage Park in Orleans to work out together. That small start has grown into a thriving community of 100+ newcomers building strength, joy, and community. The Social Fit Project is more than fitness, it's proving that wellness should not be luxury. Through our program, we provide accessible fitness and social programs that help newcomers find community.
We create inclusive spaces where newcomers can socialize, stay active, and build community through fitness and social activities.
A Canada where every newcomer overcomes isolation, feels connected, supported, and at home through fitness and community.
